Our Journey
Our journey began with George McCartney, born in 1903, whose life was shaped by resilience, determination, and a deep connection to local communities. From humble beginnings in Carlton North, to country life in Euroa, and finally settling in Geelong, George’s passion for people and property laid the groundwork for what would become a trusted name on the Surf Coast.
For decades, McCartney Real Estate has proudly served the region, combining local insight with a genuine commitment to helping others. That same spirit lives on in everything we do.
A Legacy of Service Since 1952
Established in 1952, our family-owned and operated organisation has proudly served the Torquay community for over seven decades. Founding the first full-time real estate office in Torquay, we are honoured to have played a longstanding role in the region’s development and growth.
With a steadfast commitment to excellence and integrity, we now extend our comprehensive real estate services across the broader Surf Coast and surrounding areas, including Winchelsea, Armstrong Creek, Moriac, Wensleydale, Gherang, Modewarre, Birregurra, Bambra, Deans Marsh, Mount Duneed, and Freshwater Creek.

A new era
Under the trusted leadership of George McCartney’s son, Graeme McCartney, the agency continued to thrive, confidently adapting to the evolving real estate landscape of the 2000s. As the business entered the 21st century, a new chapter unfolded under the direction of local agents Tim Carson and John McMahon.
Both well-respected community figures and devoted fathers, their collaboration and commitment propelled the agency to unprecedented success—driven by trust, genuine connection, and a deep understanding of the people they served.
Since that time – the team have grown across all avenues of residential and commercial sales along with short and long term property management.
